Infection control

The department of infection control helps to ensure that all health care workers provide high quality care so as to keep the number of healthcare-associated infections at a low level. This is achieved specifically by:

- monitoring infection levels and providing information on patients who require special preventive measures in this area;

- identifying outbreaks of infection and providing information on measures for containing and limiting outbreaks;

- contributing to the development and monitoring of care practices, and the registration
of healthcare-associated infections;

- making sure that the facilities, equipment and medical devices are hygienic;
- offering training on prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
